Don’t sit down…stand up!

Hey America, it’s time to wake up! Yes, I am your wake up call today…rise and shine. The world has been far from quiet over the past few days. There are celebrities, veterans, women, men, teenagers, children, gays, blacks, senators, activists, environmentalists, scientists, news outlets, social media sites, Republicans, liberals, democrats, the CIA, and other well-informed/trusted humans fighting back and delivering the brutal truth. The naivety NEEDS to stop, people. Trump has managed to fail us already, and it hasn’t even been a week. Are you still hoping for the best and unaware of the current issues? Of course, if everyone had truly paid attention to the terrifying issues at hand before voting for this man, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Too many failed to listen. This isn’t a democratic vs. republican issue by the way…this is a true crisis (we’re stuck in the White House with a crazy man, for four years). If you cannot see the damage that has already been done, than you’re blind.

Climate change is an immense issue to anyone with a brain, and the subject has been wiped away from the White House, along with LGBT rights. I will stand with my gays and this planet, always. This planet is our home. It houses our air, animals, plants, and energy. We are destroying it day by day. All efforts made to save endangered species and protect our earth are being ripped away, thanks to our new POTUS. The pipelines are beyond destructive and awful. They must be stopped for our sake and the planet’s. Drilling and fracking have caused our eco-system to deteriorate, along with countless species. We are supposed to be moving away from the negatives and the past…creating a more beautiful and eco-friendly tomorrow! Companies such as Google are backing up the environment. Solar panels are incredibly popular among homeowners, and car company’s are making vehicles more eco-friendly and fuel efficienct. I want my future children to live in a world filled with wonder and beauty, not a world suffering from oil spills and bad choices.

Trump is moments away from forever abolishing Obama’s work when it comes to the healthcare system (which he poured years of effort into). Trump stood in a room filled with MEN, eagerly discussing the removal of legal abortions (a woman’s issue). A woman has the right to choose what she does with her body. I was raped, and if I had gotten pregnant by my rapist, I wouldn’t have been able to keep that child. I was scarred, traumatized, and sixteen. I gained a friend called PTSD, which is common for rape victims. If a woman is sexually assaulted and had her freedom ripped away, doesn’t she deserve to decide whether or not to have a baby? Regardless of the circumstances, it’s her mind, body, and soul.

I am so sick and tired of hearing people (other women especially) insult the Women’s March, calling those who marched awful names. How about a true thank you? A thank you to those who have always fought for us. The people who marched are beautiful and passionate and I am lucky enough to know many of them. I wish so badly that I had been able to attend one of the marches the other day! I would’ve been colorful and loud with the absolute best of them, holding my sign proudly. Men attended the global marches, along with women; we aren’t just fighting for women…we are fighting for blacks, Muslims, climate change, healthcare, veterans, those with disabilities, equality all around, gay Americans, animals, funding, etc.!! There are an endless amount of issues that are being pushed under the rug or even worse, completely ignored. We are fighting for us and for our future, and our children’s future.

Let’s dedicate ourselves to remaining positive every day. Even if it’s a small change towards a positive tomorrow, it’s still a change. Buy beautiful plants and create a space dedicated to nature, recycle, drink lots of water, read good books, take lots of walks, learn something new every single day, adopt don’t shop, foster an animal, donate monthly to a good cause, try some cruelty-free products, share them with friends, sign petitions, attend events and marches, make important phone calls/send emails, never remain silent, strengthen your voice, meet powerful and passionate people, be courageous and adventurous, see the world and passed the hate, take care of your body, eat healthy foods, try vegan options…

Don’t sit down America…stand up, and fight.
